284-2026 Authorizing the Financing of the Costs of the Acquisition of Land at 83 Gilchrest Road, Valley Cottage RESULT: Adopted (5-0) MOVER: Michael Graziano, Councilman SECONDER: Donald Franchino, Councilman AYES: Supervisor Hoehmann, Councilman Valentino, Councilman Graziano, Councilman Franchino, Councilman Axelrod NAYS: None ABSTAIN: None The Supervisor stated that there were two items added to the agenda.

The Town has been in negotiations with the archdiocese of New York for a number of months. The closure of St. Paul's School, in Clarktown has been announced. They have vacated the St. Paul's Convent. There is an interest from one of the local School Districts. What we are going to do today is vote to acquire St. Paul's Convent. It is a rather large building located at 365 Kings Highway.

It is a large parcel of property. We are just acquiring the Convent. We believe we will be able to house six to eight apartments. The total fee will be $930,000. We have a $500,000 grant. The Supervisor would like to thank our lobbyist and our former Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski - as well as Colin Schmitt, our Town of Clarkstown, Director of Finance. This half a million dollars will help create Volunteer Housing.

This is a big step forward. The Town will actually purchase and create 6-8 apartments for Volunteer Firefighters and EMS. We are thrilled to be able to do this.

ADJOURNMENT At 9:30 AM, the Supervisor made a motion to adjourn and close this Special Town Board Meeting. This was offered by Co. Graziano, seconded by Co. Franchino. All were in favor. Respectfully Submitted, Lauren Marie Wohl – Town Clerk SPECIAL MEETING Ceremonial swearing-in of James Fay, Chief of the Clarkstown Police Department. The Town is happy to formally introduce our new Chief of Police, Jim Fay.

He was present with his wife and two children. Judge David Asher performed the swearing in. Chief Fay said a few words regarding his promotion. The Supervisor stated that the Town Board will be interviewing for the next Police Captain and Police Lieutenant. The Chief has been promoted so there are now two vacancies.
