TOWN OF CLARKSTOWN TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING Councilman John R. Maloney Auditorium April 7, 2026 at 5:00 PM MINUTES

PRESENT: Supervisor George Hoehmann Councilman Jon Valentino Councilman Michael Graziano Councilman Donald Franchino Councilman Robert Axelrod Town Clerk Lauren Wohl

ABSENT: The Supervisor stated that the purpose of this Town Board Meeting is to make several appointments related to the Police Department. There are a number of prospective officers that will be hired temporary, provisionally, so that they may attend the Orange County Police Academy - given the time (date) for the Rockland County Police Academy and the very many retirements that Clarkstown has.

The Orange County Academy starts Monday, April 13, 2026. Our candidates have been fully vetted and will be hired beforehand and approved by Rockland County. There is also a resignation by retirement effective April 24, 2026 of our current Police Chief Jeff Wanamaker. Chief Wanamaker has served in law enforcement for nearly 40 years. He is a third generation Police Chief in his family.

His father was a Police Chief in the Town of Orangetown and his Grandfather was the Constable in Upper Nyack many years ago. Chief Wanamaker is serving as Police Chief of Clarkstown for almost 5 years to the day. We are very proud of our Clarkstown Police Department.

People are aware of that, but they should be aware that the Clarkstown Police Department is the largest Town Police force of all the Town Police Departments in New York State. Our department has exceptional leadership. We are appointing Captain Jim Fay to the position of Police Chief - to replace Chief Wanamaker. We are accepting the resignation by retirement for Police Sergeant, Brian Gorsky.

This was effective March 27, 2026. We will also be authorizing a temporary Consulting Service Agreement with COPTECHS LLC, which will assist in the transition. Sergeant Gorsky has been the IT Specialist within the Police Department for a number of years. We have a transition going on. These resolutions are all timely and necessary. All members of the Town Board commented on the resolutions.

They congratulated Jeff, Jim and Brian. They all wished them much success in their future. They thanked them all for their past, current, and future leadership to the Town of Clarkstown. The Supervisor George Hoehmann declared the Town Board meeting opened. Assemblage saluted the flag. The Town Clerk read the roll call.
